If you remember from my previous post, Mom has lots of marketing muscle in her own circle of influence, but if you really want to expand your readership base then here are some ways to build your market:
1. Use Email. Today, blogging is overcoming the email’s popularity by quickly and effectively reaching and expanding a market. In this age of speed, logging in and downloading email is simply taking longer than clicking into a blog site. Entice your visitors to visit your site by using a short email message as teaser to bring them back to your blog.
2. Use Subscriptions. An easy way to get your readers email is to give them an opportunity to subscribe to your blog. Give them some exclusive information to entice visitors to become subscribers. Just be responsible using their email address, as the last thing you want is a comment on your blog that you are a spammer.
3. Use RSS. RSS is the fastest growing technology on the Internet today. As such, having RSS feeds is definitely another means of generating awareness of your blog and increasing its readership base. Having a variety of feeds can also add interest to your blog site.
4. Understand Your Audience. Conduct a simple survey so that you can better understand your readers and their advertising preferences. Ask consumers to give you feedback on a post, an ad link, or a trial that you shared. In this way, it is like interviewing your readers without the commitment and intrusion of a face-to-face interview.
5. Find Your Voice. The only way you will be judged in the blogosphere is by your voice or your writing style. This is the best way to connect with your visitors and as you only have one chance to impress, find the style that suits you and your audience.
6. Join a Blog Network. A blog network can be a collection of blog sites and bloggers that share the same industry, readership base, or interests as you. Consumers find credibility and convenience in clicking one link to several real bloggers about a single subject. Something that I truly believe is that more bloggers are better than one. My favorite is BlogCatalog and another good one is MyBlogLog.
If you really want to build your market and increase your readership then give your business a boost by effectively and creatively using blogging as an Internet marketing tool.
