Google PR Update Confuses Many! Change Tactics To Increase PR!

Well it’s a brand new year and with it comes Google’s latest Page Rank Update. As usual, many bloggers are hopping mad, confused and raising the question of why their blog’s PR decreased. That is probably easy to remedy, but what is worse are the blogs whose page ranks are between 0 and 2 and remained that way. It could mean that your efforts are not resulting in success and you need to change your tactics to increase PR.
I’ve waited a few days to report on this as we wanted to see how our own sites were affected, how others fared, and wait for the data-centers to synch since there was a lot of inconsistent reporting results.
Here are two tools you can use to check your page ranks across the data-centers …
From what we’ve heard, most blogs experienced a decrease in PR. This does not surprise me as Google continues to optimize in order to present what it feels are the most relevant search engine results.
If you experienced a decrease and it concerns you then I suggest that you start analyzing what you are doing and change tactics to increase PR. Things like PPP, TLA, and No-Follow are just some of the many things you should review and understand their impact on your rankings.
Some bloggers could care less about any Google slap-down and continue to run their blogs the way they want and provide the content they feel their readers want. I say … Blog on! Now not all blogs can get away with this, at least not in their infancy.
In order to increase readership, your blog needs to be found and unless you have a lot of free time to focus on non-organic methods of gaining traffic, then organic tactics are the way to go. You can always change your methods once your blog is well established.
If you are concerned with page rank and your low-PR blog did not enjoy any ranking increase, then it’s time to change your tactics to improve Google PR! Start with reviewing Vince’s post on Optimizing WordPress Articles.
Another recommended tactic is creating a linking campaign. This is one of the best methods of improving your position in the SERPs. In Google’s own words: “PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page’s value”.
Your campaign plan should include multiple linking methods like one-way, reciprocal, directory, social media, and linkbait links. Speaking of linkbait here is an interesting interview on Advanced Link Strategies by well-known blogger Michael Gray of Wolf-Howl.
Congratulations if you are one of the few, like us, that enjoyed page rank increases! We think the webmasters who slam Google every time there is a Google PR update are amusing and don’t know why they focus on it so much.
SuperiorBlogs, which is only 2 months old, experienced a minor leap to PR1 and we haven’t even “officially” launched it or implemented our usual tactics {yet}, since we are still looking for one or maybe two more Authors to join our team and are working on a new theme design.
Google PR isn’t a major focus for us (just a tell-tell sign we are doing things right), but since there are many people that do think it is a sign of quality … why don’t you change your tactics to increase your Google PR?
